About us
St. Uriel church is a vibrant community of Orthodox Tewahedo believers based in Calgary and beyond. More than a place of worship, our church is a welcoming community where faith, tradition, and service come together. Through prayer, hymns, sacraments, and compassionate care, we support individuals and families—especially newcomers, women, children, and youth. As a registered charity, we are committed to nurturing spiritual growth, emotional resilience, and social well-being, grounded in the teachings of Jesus Christ.
To foster a welcoming and spiritually enriching environment where faith is strengthened, traditions are cherished, and lives are transformed through the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Our Mission
Our Vision
A strong and united Orthodox community in Calgary, committed to service, worship, and the spiritual development of all generations.
Our Origins & History
-
Nicene Creed
The Creed provides the foundational summary of faith. The Creed (such as the Nicene Creed) outlines the essential beliefs about God, Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Church.
-
The Five Pillars of Mystery (Dogma)
Dogmas are the official, authoritative teachings derived from the Creed and further defined by Church councils and tradition.
-
The Sacraments
The Sacraments are the visible, ritual actions through which the Church imparts grace and brings believers into direct participation with the mysteries professed in the Creed and defined by Dogma.
"For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” – Matthew 18:20
